Track three ordinary days
Record when and how much you drink, when you urinate, nighttime trips, urgency, and what woke you first—the need to urinate or another sleep interruption.
Review the whole health picture
Tell your clinician about leg swelling, snoring or known sleep apnea, diabetes, heart or kidney conditions, evening medicines, and urinary stream changes.
Treat the driver
Reducing nighttime trips depends on the cause. A prostate procedure will not correct every reason a person produces urine or wakes during the night.
Bring these questions
Make the next appointment concrete.
- Does my diary suggest excess nighttime urine or a storage problem?
- Could sleep apnea or another condition contribute?
- Am I retaining urine?
- What should we address first?
